About us and frequently asked questions.

Who are we?

518 Estates is a professional, insured, and family owned estate sale company located in the Capital Region area. Our main goal is to provide the best estate sale experience for everyone involved. Whether you are someone looking to downsize or move, or have inherited a loved one’s collection, we want to help make the entire estate sale process as simple and stress free as possible.

How does it work?

It all starts with a consultation. If you have an estate to sell in the capital region area reach out to us. We meet at a convenient time for you so you can show us around the house and property. From there, we decide if the sale is right for both of us and if it is, we’ll choose the best sale dates and start discussing the set up.

What do we look for?

Antiques, collectibles, toys, furniture, and everything in between. Believe it or not, there really is a buyer for everything, so please refrain from getting rid of any items before your consultation.

Our Sales.

Our sales typically run Saturday and Sunday from 8 AM to 3 PM. Numbers are available at the front door prior to opening each day and customers are allowed inside in limited numbers to prevent overcrowding. No holds or reserves are placed on items ahead of time or presold before the first day of the sale. All of our items are priced when possible and are typically 50% off on the final day of the sale. Our sales are currently cash only.

How much does this cost?

We set a fixed commission of 40% of the total sales and stick to it. No more, no less, no surprises. The final sale total has our 40% commission subtracted from it and the rest (60%) is yours.

I want to have an Estate Sale but don’t think I have enough items?

If that’s the case we can still work with you in a variety of ways. We buy and sell antiques/collectibles so if you have some unique things we might pick out our favorites and make some offers. We also have the option of listing the entire sale online on estatesales.net and coordinating the sale for you. A one day “flash” sale can also be arraigned.

What about leftover items?

We strongly believe that for ethical reasons the company handling an estate sale should NEVER be the same company that handles the clean out. If you are in need of a dumpster rental or clean out, we highly recommend our friends at Veteran Haul Away (518-516-5311). We also recommend any of the local Habitat Restores or CAPTAIN’s Treasures Thrift (in Clifton Park) where you can donate certain items.

What about a relator?

As you can probably image, we deal with a lot of relators. Tons of them. Here (in no particular order) are some of the ones we have worked with and highly recommend:

Angela Galofaro (Gucciardo), 518-429-9192

Vickie McLaughlin (Howard Hanna), 518-429-7478
